Dear Subscribers,
Sometimes I say something like "this has been another head-spinning week." Well, in this case, literally-- I was struck by a bout of not just mild head-fuzzy vertigo, but the wild sensation of the bottom falling out from under me as the world was cork-screwing around, even if I was sitting or lying down. I am open to ideas from my diagnosing readership. And yes I will see a doctor if it doesn't ease up after a couple of days. My guess: a strange inner ear virus that is going to pass.
In case you want more info before you make your own diagnosis: I am more tired than normal but not unenergetic; my appetite is absolutely fine; no fever; no cold or cough.
It is really freaking weird. Will report back next week.
Speaking of follow-up visits, here is a quick update from last week-- Here's how I did on my self-administered Oscar Poll:
Picture: Green Book
Director: Alphonso Cuaron. Which I revised to Spike Lee.
Actor: Rami Malek
Actress: Glenn Close
Supporting Actor: Sam Elliott. Which I revised to Mahershala Ali. Then I said he won’t win but Sam Rockwell was so ridiculously good as George Bush in Vice.
Supporting Actress: Regina King
Original Screenplay: Roma which I revised to The Favourite. 0 for 2.
Adapted Screenplay: A Star Is Born
Foreign Language Film: Roma
Film Editing: I hypothesized that whichever film has the longest running time would win. I was wrong, guessing that. BlackKklansman would win, the longest at 2:16. Bohemian Rhapsody won, tied with Vice at 2:13. The Favourite and Greenbook were shorter.
Make-up & Hair: Vice, as I predicted-- Oscar thinks bald is sexy!
Any Sound award-- Roma-- how could I not realize Bohemian Rhapsody would take these.
Documentary: RBG -- go, (my pal!) director Betsy West!!! For sure Free Solo was an amazing subject but the film did not grab me as the most interestingly made or even the most important subject, which the other three nominees certainly were.
I hope you didn't use my picks for your Oscar Pool!

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
