We're going on a Road Trip: Are we Spring yet?
Last week, we noted the launch of the "Ban Bossy" campaign and highlighted some already-brewing strong opinions being bandied about. The debate continues. Maybe the campaign should be titled, in the immortal words of every frustrated kid (and the fantasy of every frustrated employee) "You are not the boss of me!"
Newsflash: according to this week's news, it is better to be a man in the workplace. One, if you're a man noone calls you bossy even if you're assertive, decisive, direct, or even capricious, moody, or mean. Two, you earn a dollar for every .77 cents that a woman does. In a corporate game of "would you rather?", I'd rather earn a dollar than not be called bossy.
In case you missed any of this, you can get a good overview on the topic in this week's Sunday Paper. You also could have gleaned this information if you had been in the workforce--or maybe just simply alive--any time in the past 4000 or so years.
The SundayPaper tries to not boss you around. We seek only to expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and for, and very frequently by, women in business. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh.
Thank you for sending interesting articles and media pieces you've come across.
You've heard of push-marketing. Well here's pushy marketing: tell people to sign up for this newsletter by emailing us at the LZSundayPaper@gmail.com mailbox. Next week we will likely break 1000 subscribers. Maybe a special gift for customer 1000 is in order. WWZD? That's What Would Zappos Do cuz of their awesome customer attention, not What Would Zalaznick Do. Though maybe I'll start a new @WWZD Twitter handle that can serve as a 140-character work-advice column.
Enjoy! and see you next week.
Lauren
