Dear Readers,
Recently, I wrote this piece for one of my favorite publishing platforms, Linked In! It is a "The Road Not Taken" type of essay about what I think I would have been doing all these years if I wasn't a media executive.
As The (faithful) Sunday Paper readers know, I love comments and feedback of all sorts. The best comment I got on this piece wasn't actually about my choices on my professional roadmap. The comment asserted that the most important takeaway from the Linked In piece is that that my hair should have its own Tumblr.
My hair agrees! We're currently negotiating.
If you compare my college graduation picture at the top of the Linked In post with the Instagram profile picture, with the 17 billion bizarre pictures of me (and everyone I appear to have known in my entire life) on Google Images, you will probably side with my hair and demand that I start its Tumblr.
Thank you, Larry & Sergei! Now, can you assign some other Googlers to digitize my entire photo archive so the lifestory of my hair is properly documented prior to 2004?
Neither my hair nor I have do have a Tumblr (yet). But I do want to start one with my collection of Ladies Room stall signs. I have hundreds. I have photos of ones that are framed, taped together, on the tank, on the wall, hand written, etched into plastic, you name it. I think Tumblr would be a good place to ask people to post ones that they find, too! I am positive that this crowd sourcing would dramatically reduce septic system overflows.
Since we're covering most all manner of social media, I bet you, and possibly the nation, is asking, "but wait, does LZ have an Instagram?" Guess what!? Christmas and Hanukkah have come early for you, because the answer is YES. It is a qualified yes, however, like a great gift where the giver has not given you any batteries to get started. You see, I enjoy the idea of my Instagram, but not the actual doing of it. I always forget!
I started my Instagram in 2012 with one post from the back seat of my own car. Then I took a sabbatical. For all of 2013. But I came back strong with approximately 15 posts in 2014 so far, spaced out almost monthly, but not quite! That keeps my 311 followers on their toes, that's for sure.
This weekly letter started off by introducing you to an essay about what I would have done if I didn't do what I do, professionally. Coincidentally, J.K. Rowling also wrote a note last week about what she would have done if she had not written Harry Potter! She published on Twitter and she seems 100% #sincere about possibly having turned out to be an Otter Weigher.
J.K. Rowling's Holiday gift to us is that she is publishing more Harry Potter! A story or snippet or something, for the 12 Days of Christmas. No word yet on the Harry Plotkin Chronicles she was rumored to be writing for each of the 8 Days of Hanukkah.
Every week, we try to bring you the best and most important pieces about women in business and culture. We break it down into politics, digital, tech, media, fashion, sports, film, music, fashion, and culture. We always try to make you laugh at least once, which is important during the holiday season and after the tough week we've all had.
Reach me on any social media platform that exists or has yet to be invented. Send me any interesting items you see along the way, or think I may have missed. Tell us what you think. Tell people you think will enjoy it to sign up at LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
Many of the articles we don't have room to include in the weekend edition are tweeted out all during the week! You can read them if you follow @LZSundayPaper.
See ya!

The LZ Sunday Paper™ (soon to be registered trademarked and copyrighted) launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in size high, medium, and low. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
