What in the world ever happened to that big recession we were supposed to have had? I am always psyched for a bargain, but $2000 decorative sticks doesn't seem like an awesome deal, even if they were 60% off at a Ligne Rosset floor sample sale, which they were. And, in case you're having trouble reading the price tag or simply can't believe your eyeballs, yes, that $29,000 adorable spring cocktail or garden party dress from Bergdorf Goodman, okay that was full price. But let's say even if it was %90 off. Wouldn't that still be kind of pricey for a dress that someone would surely spill red wine on? Accidents happen, but even white wine I would be kind of annoyed. By the way, other than a pretty decent Thai restaurant in the neighborhood, I don't think I've seen a real need for any decorative sticks.
This week we earned our curation commission here at The Sunday Paper. In a relatively slow news week, there were about 30 pieces of content that didn't make the cut. Lots were good, kind of right on, but just wide of our mark. These became the victim of the crumply sound of electronic paper that someone worked very hard to invent for when the MacBook Air's "trash" is being taken out. Hope they got lots of stock options for that.
This one, though interesting, didn't make it because it has nothing to do with what we usually cover. But it had this line in it which I thought was really weird: "Google’s human resources boss, a serious woman with bangs named Stacey Sullivan, thought Page’s plan was nuts, according to “I'm Feeling Lucky,” Douglas Edwards' inside view of Google's early years." A serious woman with bangs. Was that important? Was she serious because she had bangs? Was it a copy editing error and it should have read "a woman with serious bangs"? That would be more important.
Rhianna seemed to be making a fashion statement on two continents. At least this one is for Vogue so we'll assume there's actual fashion in the statement.
Good thing we learned what NSFW meant, last week. Guess we should have noted that a few hyperlinks ago. This one qualifies just for the headline.
On that note, shall we bid farewell to Women's History Month with this piece, which is moving and important, and especially this one?
The LZSundayPaper is like a condensed Women's History Week every seven days, and 100% less expensive than either of the two items pictured above. Each week, we expose and recirculate content that is about, and very frequently by, women in business. We cover media and pop culture. The culture comes in sizes high, medium, and low. Try it on and see what looks good on you.
Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh. Don't hesitate to let your friends, peers, and family know they can sign up for this newsletter by emailing us at LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
See you in May!
