Hello, Readers--
Every week when I send out the newsletter I get a certain amount of "out of office" bounce-back emails. In August, many are related to vacations and time away. Here is one that made me laugh, and also made me happy for the person doing it:
Hello!
I'm in the woods of Tennessee running the canoe dock at Camp XXXX until August 15th. I check email periodically, but not regularly. So, best to not expect a reply until I'm back.
I'm definitely not qualified to run a canoe dock. And even if I was, I'm not sure it would be my first (or 11th or even what number I don't know) choice for a vacation. But, I am doing some semblance of a little downtime. Emphasis on "semblance."
The news cycle certainly doesn't go on vacation. Below is this week's chock-full compendium of news and pop culture by and about (but not exclusively for) women in politics, business, politics, technology, media, film, tv, fashion, sports, literature and general pop culture. Handpicked, by me, for you.
For more news during the week, follow me @LZSundayPaper.
Keep sending any items of interest or send questions/comments: here. Coincident with the start of the actual Olympics, I (coincidentally) heard from an actual Olympics U.S. women's gymnastic star! I was blown away. She was emailing to let me know that she is a faithful subscriber, and had recently found a particular item of great interest. I took it as a major Gold Medal for the LZSP! It was before I culled the pieces that kick off the newsletter today. I wonder what she will think about both issues.
And don't forget, follow me at my @LZSundayPaper Instagram. If you enjoy floors, or just looking down, then you might enjoy @LZFloors.
Oh also, many of you asked, how did I do in my tennis tourney last Sunday? Well, yes, you heard that I made it to the semis, which was great. But that's as far as the tournament route took me. But we didn't lose too too badly. And the winner of my match went on to win the whole tourney so clearly they were tough customers…

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
