Dear Readers,
With the gift/blessing of beloved family, financial stability and gainful employment, I'm here to report that for me the past 7 days have been pretty excellent. My inner introvert has never been more suited to the realities of every day life now. I am happily ensconced with no work- or social- pressure to leave…ever! I can work and cook and clean to my heart's content. I don't have to put on the uniform of work or play. My calendar is blessedly clear of "nice to do" meetings and meals with people who want to 'pick my brain.'
Highlights have included--like everyone else--making and eating a whole lot of food: apple turnovers, matzah balls, Irish soda bread, French onion soup, Chinese chicken in lettuce wraps, breakfast wraps, pulled pork, sliders, a killer chef salad. And one **Birthday!** surprise: a cookie-dough birthday cake from David Chang's Milk Bar. It was thoughtfully sent by a birthday girl's co-worker, timed to a Zoom call listed on the shared work Outlook calendar as "Important Touchbase." All in all, God-willing we will be healthy at the end of this, only lamenting the Covid-19 (pounds) that we will likely all be gaining in our sedentary quarantines.
In the face of this reality horror show, I'm sure we have all done various other amusing things virtually, besides cooking. I have enjoyed seeing people's homes, roommates, pets, and kids passing through the Zoom, WebEx, and Google Hangout frames. I got to a virtual handshake on a deal 8 months in the making. Various members of the family enjoyed virtual Shabbat (saved the screenshot/lost on someone else's computer, sadly); we attended a virtual cocktail party last night; enjoyed virtual opera; and got virtually Transcendental.
Perhaps this week we will learn some conversational Hebrew, watch some vintage NCAA basketball, or watch these 11 movies that were in the movie theaters just a week ago and are now available-- legally-- online. I'm vowing to watch Episode 2 of Reese Witherspoon in similar-ish role as Big Little Lies, but in a different show. Episode 1 had its moments.
My cleaning proclivities have been grossly enabled in quarantine. It's a fact that no surface can be clean enough, no amount of dust, grime and grit well-enough eradicated, so when I figured out how to wash my vacuum cleaner, I was really in OCD heaven. My closets and cabinets know that I'm coming for them, soon!
Downsides--well… actually--probably? just maybe? I think we do have a Covid-19 patient in our household midst. We are all basically fine. But one of us starting showing textbook symptoms 9 days ago. Doctors were called. Advice and instruction was given and strictly adhered to. She started feeling better. But then her employer emailed to say a test-positive case was reported on her floor at work. So…ya gotta assume…right? The better news is that we all stayed inside all week. Noone else is symptomatic and we would be past the infectious period by now. And have only another week to go for full quarantine post-symptoms. Maybe best outcome would be that we've all been exposed, anti-bodies are now present, and because we were all already in lock-down, we haven't exposed anyone else.
Hard to even uncover, let alone focus on non-viral news. But go sanitize your hands and don't distance yourself from today’s must-read list of the most important, thought-provoking news about women in politics, business, media, health, the arts, and pop culture. I guarantee you have time to read this week's edition in depth.

I am light-hearted in parts of this note but I fully, fully understand how important and serious this is. New York City is suffering greatly. People are alone and compromised. Friends are suffering, health-wise and financially. Millions more will be. We count ourselves among the lucky ones.
Speaking of counting-- fill out your census if you haven't already!

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
