Dear Readers,
Pre Holiday-season, give yourself the gift of 20 more minutes in bed perusing this week's paper.
If you have longer to spare, here's a list of satisfying tv-- or should I say "great content!"-- for you.
We have previously discussed the non-funniness/not the right moment for Curb Your Enthusiasm's form of humor. Well put that aside for a moment and if you are a fan of Lin Manuel Miranda, just watch the last two episodes of the final season of Curb on HBO.com or HBO Go or whatever you can figure out.
"Fatwah!: The Musical" pretty much says it all. Ignore the long and unfunny capper to the entire series run which centers around men being distracted by a pair of boobs. Yes. Correct. That's the finale sum of all of Larry's parts. But honestly the opening number to "Fatwah!" at the top of episode 10, season 9 makes it worth it. Sort of.
I really enjoyed "Search Party." It's wry and Millennial-ish and funny in a not-funny kind of way. The writer/director/producers are very smart and I know for a fact that at least one of them is very wry and Millennial-ish and funny and nice for real. It stars and is produced by Alia Shawcat who was the genius character Maeby Funke from Arrested Development; she recently just had a very out-there brilliant part in Transparent. So try it. Frustratingly (more on this below) it's on TBS which makes it really hard to binge/catch up.
Many people are saying that Steven Soderbergh's "Godless," with Michelle Dockery from "Downton Abbey," is a great show on Netflix. It's about a Western town that has no men for some reason. But other fine people, are saying that the first episode sucks because the men have all the plot, story, and dialogue. Good luck with that.
Finally, many other fine people are saying that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, created by genius Amy Sherman-Palladino who created both The Gilmore Girls and Bunheads, is a must. I believe them! It's next up on my streaming list. God bless brilliant serial creators like her. I have the distinction of passing on a really good idea of hers that we just couldn't figure out how to make. Looks like you're doing okay, though, Amy-- but I'm still sorry about it.
Anyone super-late to the how-to-catch-up-or-binge party, hopefully you have a Netflix and Amazon account. If you choose the cable series from the list above, unfortunately you will have to spend the rest of your day looking for your cable tv subscription log-in, ID & password. When you find it and log in, it won't work. You'll get mad. Or go to channel one million and find the thing called the "on-demand" platform. Painstakingly search for the title of the show you are trying to find, letter by letter. Find it, but then find out there are five random episodes of it, but not the ones you want to see. If you do find the one you want to watch, you'll realize that you can't fast-forward through the commercials and the same three commercials play over and over and over again making it even more frustrating.
In other news (well actually the same harasser/abuser news of Hollywood for many weeks, now) I'm sorry that Tootsie and The Graduate are now ruined forever. Due to the star of those films ruining the lives of many women, that is.
And, this important piece made me rethink what -- and why -- me and most people still refused to believe about Woody Allen.
But for other news of the women's week in review, here is some great content for you! Important, interesting essential news about women in politics, business, media, and tech, along with a dose of ultra-relevant culture.
You can always use the tip-line here, for anything you'd like me to look at.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
