Hello, Readers--
9/11/01. Is 15 years a long time ago? Or a short time ago? I'm having trouble deciding.
Important things about me that were different, 15 years ago:
My third child was not yet born
My father was alive and well
I Hadn't even had my first interview for the job which was to become the President of the (nascent/sort of not yet in existence) Universal's TRIO Network, which began my tv executive era extraordinaire.
Important things about society and culture, 15 years ago:
Mike Bloomberg's 12-year run as the Mayor of New York City, which seemed like forever (in a good way) and which is now over, hadn't yet begun
My kids were watching VHS tapes and some DVD's
"I'm Real (Murder Remix)" by Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule was the #1 song on the Billboard Chart and I am confessing that I don't think I could hum 2 bars of that song. Or even recognize it?
The iPhone would be invented and released 6 years later
The Apprentice Season 1 would premiere 3 years later
Everybody liked Matt Lauer
The morning of 9/11 is one of those things that is burnished so indelibly in my memory, as it probably is for countless others. For some of the reasons above, and many others that I've shared before, I can track every move I made during every minute of the morning between waking up in the West Village in New York City and each of the planes hitting, then the collapse of both buildings, and finally the reuniting of my family, several hours later. It was life altering. I can't believe I am a definitive "yes" to the "Do you know where you were when X happened?" question. Maybe next year I'll share more. Maybe not.
I definitely know where I am each week when I hit "Send" on this Mailchimp email. I am a day and night into the weekend, excited for folks to read a whole lot about the week's events, even weeks like this one, which was 100% fakakta once again. Here's the straight dope on politics, business, politics, technology, media, film, tv, fashion, sports, literature and general pop culture. Handpicked, by me, for you.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
