Dear Readers,
Happy Memorial Day!
The unofficial start of summer is marked for me by a fabulous commencement weekend for my family! Here in ever-meteorologically-uncooperative Providence, the unending unofficial end of winter is marked for me by wearing a down shell and heavy raincoat all weekend so far.
I only left LA a few days ago, and as you faithful Readers know from last week, our big Fox Show premiered on Thursday, to very good response! I sent a few folks from the production team a thank you note and gift from a great liquor store in LA. When my salesperson emailed to say that everything had successfully gone out by messenger on Friday morning, I wrote him a quick note back just to confirm and say thank you. He responded with another note that thanked me again…and asked me if I had gotten the "numbers" aka ratings yet! That is not your everyday liquor store salesperson. I am sure he would have had a terrific plastic surgeon recommendation for me, should the need have arisen. I Heart L.A.
Continuing with the me-themed missives of the past couple of weeks, another part of this weekend was a "resignation" letter I wrote, concluding my term as a Trustee of Brown University. This is an interesting rite of passage, whereby everyone who comes to the end of their term writes a letter of resignation to the Secretary of the Corporation. They are each read out loud, in their entirety, to close the meeting. It is part egg-heady-intellectual, part last-night-of-summer-camp in feeling. Some are short and straightforward, some literary, some funny, some angry, many are weepers! They are all incredibly revealing. Here is mine.
Gotta run-- gonna go put on my fleece-lined cap 'n gown for the Ceremony!
Send me stuff you think should go in next week's edition here.
You can follow me on Twitter or on Insta @LZSundayPaper. While you're walking and simultaneously looking down at your phone, shift your eyes left or right and catch a glimpse of how I see the world. Or let me do the work for you-- just follow me at @LZFloors .
Have a nice barbeque this weekend and see you next week--we will have hopefully unloaded the tractor-trailer full of boxes and bags and other college detritus from the graduate's off-campus apartment!

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
