Greetings, fans.
Let's consider this the "old news" edition as we continue to round up some continuing news items that are beginning to feel like the same old story.
It would be great to report that this is the last word you'll read on:
1) domestic abuse in professional sports
2) a somewhat surprising murder verdict in a trial where a famous-y man kills his unfamous-y girlfriend. But then you think about it for a second and you're not really surprised
3) ISIL, ISIS, or any other acronymistic terror organizations' nefarious goings-on
re: 1) -- what I don't actually get is why the "second videotape" was a trigger for acknowledging extreme horribleness that the first tape was not.
When there's a scene in a movie of a man inside a house saying to his fiancee, "Honey, let me help you put on your coat and let's go outside." Then you cut to them outside, and she's wearing a coat that she didn't have on inside, I'm pretty sure I don't need to see them putting on their coats to be certain of what happened. Sure, she could have slipped and fallen into her coat. Or somehow the coat could have magnetized onto her. But more likely, you have properly imagined exactly how the coat got on the person.
Back in non-imaginaryland, I would say, under most any circumstance, it's very unusual to exit an elevator horizontally. If it does happen, it's quite unusual for your elevatormate to be jocular or even calm. Additionally, transport via hairpull is not appropriate, as that's what armpits are useful for. Finally, you don't need much imagination to suspect the cause of the horizontalness. And, if you do think there are various possibilities, please investigate fully, right off the bat, just to be sure. The first place to start might be to watch the videotape that you were given.
Standing vertically for now, the LZSundayPaper exposes and recirculates news about, and very frequently by, women. We serve it up in portions that include business, digital, tech, media, sports, and culture. The culture is sometimes high, sometimes low, infrequently medium. Our audience is getting vast-er, and isn't gender-driven.
In case the short, depressing first few lines of this week's paper made you forget, every week we expect one good laugh.
Don't forget to send us interesting stuff you think we may have missed, and tell us what you think at OR tell people you think will enjoy it to sign up at LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
Many of the articles we don't have room to include in the weekend edition are tweeted out all during the week! You can read/see them if you follow it/me/us @LZSundayPaper.
Enjoy!
