Dearest Readers,
Last week I had a super sunset photo for the solstice celebration.
News Flash: Folks love a sunset pic! Here's this week's, just after a cloudburst that was Noah's Ark-level. It spawned a first ever leak in our roof! Possibly worth it for this:
nofilter. Honest. Photo Credit @phelimd Speaking of him, anyone who knows us knows that yes, we have a great relationship. But this week I was also thinking of two other special relationships I have. Really special. Decades-long. Intense, at times. A give and take, like all of them. Peaks and valleys. It takes work to maintain them. Of course I speak of my relationships with both my dry cleaner and my shoemaker. Man, this week was a test of both. Dmitrios the Cobbler rescued a pair of ancient Kate Spade silver metallic loafers that had really gone around the bend. After a brief, muttered-yet-appropriate admonishment to pass on to my daughter not to "let it get so bad," he agreed to try to "get it half-normal." Even more amazing was that for the first time ever, he had me try on an elastic-banded Manolo cork-heeled sandal which had somehow stretched out. Like a tailor, he knelt down, cloth tape measure in hand, to measure how much to "take in." Have you ever had a strap "taken in" on a shoe? I haven't. As this is one continuous piece of elastic, Dmitrios was stressed about cutting and stitching and then setting me up for a major blister ('this could be bad for you"). But lo and behold, at pick-up this week, he had glued/soled/heeled the precious Spade loafer to perfection. And the Blahnik elasticity was restored. I am hopeful that Dmitrios has insured that I will never walk right out of any shoe, ever again, on the steps of a NYC Subway entrance, that much I can tell you.
I will save the fascinating story of the magic that Basil the Cleaner not only my very very tough cat vomit/waterstained-from-trying-to-get-the-cat-vomit out upholstery challenge for another time, but suffice it to say that if you come to my house for a dinner party, I defy you to identify which chair suffered this ill.
The family that curates together, stays together: thank you to Dale, Lucy, and Phelim for great pieces you sent me this week! ! And also to Julie, Lisa, Laura, Jenny, Julie, Emily, Keri, Jason, and catch-up thank yous to Nancy, Holly, Kimberly, Michele, Michelle, Kelly, Robert, David, Hunter, and many more!

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
