Friends and Viewers,
I see lots of movies. I also don't see a lot of movies. So here are my only-partially-informed-by-firsthand-viewing-experience Oscar Pics. Some additional caveats given.
Best Pic: Spotlight, but maybe The Big Short. But no, Spotlight
Director: George Miller, because the Academy I don't think likes foreign names and really likes Mad Max. Otherwise Innaritu.
Actor: DiCaprio. Because he acted "The Most," if not The Best.
Actress: Brie Larson. Because everyone says so. I want to say Saiorse Ronan because I am one of the few people who knows how to pronounce Saoirse, because I have a niece named SAIR-shuh.
Supporting Actor: Stallone. But definitely Mark Ruffalo if Spotlight doesn't win Best Pic.
Supporting Actress: Rooney Mara. Probably not but I am going with it.
Animated Film: Inside Out
Cinematography: The Revenant
Costume Design: Mad Max: Fury Road, but possibly Cinderella, because it usually goes to the film with the Most Costumes, not the Best Costumes
Editing: The Revenant. Similar theory I don't have time to test: that Best Editing goes to "Most Editing," ie. longest film by virtue of running time, and therefore "most edits."
Adapted Screenplay: Room, but maybe The Martian, but maybe The Big Short. Okay The Martian.
Original Screenplay: Spotlight
I wonder what I will get if I win! Since I'm not really competing with anyone in an actual pool?
Here's this week's pool of news by and about women in business, politics, digital, media, film, tv, fashion, sports, literature and general pop culture.
I finally started an Instagram for the LZSundayPaper, in addition to my fascinating LZFloors feed. Check them out!
MailChimp is back to its persnickety self, so many people did not get last week's edition. Thanks to those of you who alerted me to that, throughout the week. You can peruse the back catalogue for the issues you missed, forward the Paper to someone you think would enjoy it, or sign up at LZSundayPaper.com.
Please send me any items of interest or send questions/comments: here.
Sometimes there's so much interesting stuff out there I can't wait 'til Sunday so I tweet it during the week. Follow me @LZSundayPaper.
Enjoy the Oscars! But don't get sued for Copyright Infringement by the Academy, like the givers of the Oscars Gift/Lootbag, valued at $216,000, did.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ (soon to be registered trademarked and copyrighted) launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in size high, medium, and low. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
