Dear Readers,
For those of you celebrating, Happy last night of Hanukkah!
I'm in end-of-year cleanout mode combined with end-of-year donation mode, both monetary and goods-inspired. One part of the purge is books. Middle-school YA books; high school curriculum books; test-prep (good within one year, to donate) books; really expensive hard-cover fiction (I should have waited for the paperback) books; books we didn't know we had dupes of; books I never read; books I read but never liked.
Where to donate, instead of just throwing them out or, at best, schlepping them to a local Salvation Army? Here are some options:
For those incarcerated, all through the U.S., The Books Through Bars Collective
To support a network of pediatricians' offices that encourage reading and connect patients and parents with books, Reach Out and Read
In New York City, to support people with HIV and AIDS, at Housingworks Bookshop
Through the New York City Public Library system, another way to get your books connected to those in need, including prisoners and their families.
I'm sure a simple Google search will yield some options in your town, as well. Do it! Feels great to get rid of some things that you won't get any more use or pleasure out of.
If you aren't already a subscriber, sign up here. You'll receive the newsletter each week--- a compendium of news by and about women in business, politics, and the best of pop culture-- straight to your inbox each Sunday morning. And do keep sending me articles, photos, or videos you think are interesting, important, or amusing here. Thank you especially this week to the inimitable Julie, Kelly, Fred, Phelim, BZ, Elyse, Jason, Nancy, Lisa, Anna, Lucy, and many more. Really took the edge off this week.
Though Twitter is getting even more narrlow and blow-hard-y; Instagram is an endless stream of posed insouciance; and Facebook is a sea of either despicable business practices or treacle-y user posts, depending which side you look at, I'm still there--available to Follow or Like by clicking right here:

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
