Dear Readers,
Here I am in Sundance. Yes, there are meetings and events and lots and lots of parties. But seeing many, many movies in a very, very short time is the main event. People are always surprised and a little horrified when I tell them that I see three or four or five movies in one day. I don't know why. People very proudly say they watch two or three movies on a plane or that they watched five seasons of some random tv show over a weekend. I think it must be something about the idea of seeing several movies, in a physical theater, especially early morning 'til midnight, that really evokes a reaction.
I will report back.
In the meantime, here are some prime bingeables for you:
Must see: either of the two Fyre Festival docs. The Netflix doc is better made, less connect-the-dots-with-a-sledgehammer, while the Hulu doc has the actual guy, convicted felon Billy McFarland, on camera. Both are omg sad statements of Instagram lemmings following a classic hypeman.
Lesson learned: scammers gotta scam.
Must see: As this review says, "Quit Your Job and Stream 'Call My Agent' Right Now."
Lesson learned: If done right, you can still make workplace dramadies with sex between co-workers profoundly funny and moving and somehow not inappropriate.Vive la France!
Must see: 'Surviving R. Kelly' on Lifetime.
Lesson learned: Believe victims!
Must listen: 'Last Seen,' A riveting, yet somehow calming, podcast about the biggest art world heist in decades, half a billion dollars worth of old masters paintings stolen in 1990, not one of the 13 piece of art ever seen again.
Lesson learned: It's stories like this one that make screenwriters keep writing idiotic heist movies.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
