Dear Folks,
Pretty much every day, I think of something in my tech and/or audio-visual world that I wish was not invented. Some days it is the telephone. Some days it is Facebook. Some days, like on Daylight Savings Time changeover day, it is LED clocks embedded in 14 appliances around my apartment.
Today, I am resenting, or maybe even cursing the scourge of…Google Calendar Invites and other "easy" scheduling apps that people use such as Doodle Polls, Calend.ly and other vowel- and consonant-challenged nouveau digi-apps.
Look! here is an article about the 16 Best Meeting Schedule Apps. No matter how many meetings I have, I think 16 ways to make them is about 15 too many. Email me, call me (or my hard-working and trusty assistant) and we will make a meeting. Send me 11 different updates and e-vites and cancellations and re-instatements and I will hope and pray that they "synch" to my calendar and then to my iPhone. Hahahhahhaha, that's a good one.
For all I know there is a person sitting in a Pain Quotidien somewhere in Manhattan, wondering if I'm going to show up to our meeting that was scheduled for last Thursday. I'm coming! Order me a large skim latté. Thank you.
On the other hand, I have a very long list of things that I am really happy were invented and they make my life better every day. Despite my pissy old-lady-sounding opening screed, most of you know that I do love technology and inventions of all sorts. Even going back a ways, I like very utilitarian ones-- for sure indoor plumbing was a great innovation. Really disrupted the outhouse industry. No but honestly dishwashers and other types of appliances incredibly hard-working, rarely break, you can have them for years and years. Most of all actually make my time more efficient. Scheduling software, so far, has not.
I hope you think that LZSundayPaper is a good invention. I hope it lasts for years, doesn't break (despite my Mailchimp woes) and makes your time more efficient. I root around all week in the brains and bowels of the internet so you don't have to, to deliver the week's news about and by women in business, politics, digital, media, film, tv, fashion, sports, and pop culture. Roughly in that order. Hand-picked. By me. For you.
Please Tweet or share your favorite links from the Newsletter (I know, it's hard to tweet or facebook individual links while still crediting the Paper; we're working on that).
Send me any items of interest or send questions/comments: here.
And do peruse the back catalogue for the issues you missed, forward the Paper to someone you think would enjoy it, or sign up at LZSundayPaper.com.
Sometimes there's so much interesting stuff out there I can't wait 'til Sunday so I tweet it during the week. Follow me @LZSundayPaper.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ (soon to be registered trademarked and copyrighted) launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in size high, medium, and low. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
