Dear Readers,
How are things going, you ask?
How did you do in this weekend's annual Women's tennis tourney that you usually write about? Forfeit. All good now, but trusted/beloved partner had unanticipated family health issue. Good news is that due to the literal luck of the draw, we can proudly say that we had already made it to the quarter-finals before we had to forfeit, without even playing a match. That is a fine showing! and likely I will be back next year like my [good friend here](http:// https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/07/sports/tennis/serena-williams-us-open.html?referringSource=articleShare).
How's that nasty toe infection? Yes, the one that has been going on for months that you finally saw a doctor about? Getting better. Slowly. Finishing long course of mega-antibiotics and self-proscribed probiotics. Keeping gauze manufacturing in business. Check-up on Tuesday. New knowledge -- apparently my massive daily yoga exertions of the March, April, and May lockdown caused a "trauma" to the toe which is itself a way to invite infection which is lurking in the body. This makes sense because I had been overly proud of finally getting to be able to seamlessly roll over the toes from up-dog to down-dog but my toes apparently didn't like that too much. I would highlight all the articles about toe trauma and its correlation to infection but I think last week's link to my toe infection definition itself was traumatizing enough, so I'm going to skip that.
How'd you fare in the brief but huge Storm Isaias that hit the East coast? Privileged problems. Our Weber grill got wind-gusted around a corner and down an exterior set of stairs. Scary because the propane tank was still attached. The house shook like heck. The ocean got real close to the shaking house. And God said "You shalt not have clean windows" and punished me for trying. Last Monday, for the first time in about two years, Justin the window, screen and sill cleaner spent 7 hours doing what Justin does best, making the windows look like…plate glass. TWO DAYS LATER, after the storm cleared: #nofilter!
Justin texted me immediately after the storm to see how we (and our windows, screens, and sills) were doing. When I texted him this picture, he simply showed up the next morning and insisted on re-doing the whole thing, getting the sand, salt, and seaweed off again. It is truly his calling.
How about other stuff which some might rank as more important than tennis, toes, and dirty windows? For instance, how's the VP pick going? I'm not in charge of that but I absolutely hated reading this article. Biden better hurry the F up and keep everyone on his side.
Oh what about that global pandemic? Still going.
Any resources to recommend as an anti-racist, feminist ally? I found this list interesting and helpful, a new perspective on ways to help Black women through a variety of grant-giving organizations, many of which I had never heard of.
Additionally, folks seem to be enjoying listening to a media pick that I recommended, Nice White Parents. "Enjoying" might be the wrong word. Subscribers have written in with other quotables such as "devastatingly good" and "this podcast makes me feel sick" and "we [nice white people] are monsters.' I agree with all of the above. The first step to being less monstrous is to recognize the monster in all of us.
Time is crawling and flying at the same time. March was yesterday and 10 years ago. Tomorrow is here and 10 years away. Whether you have one minute or a year to kill, read below for the most important news of the week about women in politics, business, the arts, fashion, sports and pop culture. Discover, amplify, and share a voice you hadn't heard before. Have a laugh.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
