Dear Readers,
Some updates/answering viewer mail:
Many of you wrote in to inform me that, pursuant to last week's blog entry from the West Coast, when LA's June Gloom arrives early it is termed "May Gray." Thank you!
Also, in the past I have addressed the popularity of all the clean-up/tidying/throwing out your junk books. And most of us share a fascination with hoarder-y type of stories, probably because most of us have that aspect to us and fear the same fate. Additionally, it seems that writing about all my months of sorting and filing was intriguing, if not inspiring. To answer a spate of inquiries: Thank you! It's all continuing to go very well, though it is feeling a bit ceaseless. I would say that we have moved on from "Major Spring Cleaning" to "Operation: No More Depressing Sheets and Towels." I cannot get over the disgustingness of the majority of the sheets and towels being used in my own home. Moreover, I cannot get over the fact that they all look basically fine from a distance, and they certainly get the basic job done of, let's say, absorbing water off skin and coming between me and direct contact with a mattress. But once I started to look, there was no going back. The variations of the color white that include other colors such as "yellow" and "gray." The fraying. The weird stains. Wow. Let's just say the rag basket is a whole lot fuller.
On this holiday weekend we're officially moving on toThe Great Summer Clean-Up initiative. First up: distinguish between things that work, functionally, but are even more depressing to look at than the sheets and towels:
Upside: ocean-front beach house.
Current Downside: annual rust-fest for all manner of items great and small! Items not shown: corroded bicycles, house numbers, door hinges, roller shade chains, cast iron log holders, umbrella stands, doorknobs, lamp bases, lighting fixtures, you name it.
Future Climate Change Downside: beach, furniture, house, entire community, island will be swallowed by the sea.
Future Upside: won't need a barbeque and no one will be a guest in the guest house judging my raggedy old sheets and towels.
This holiday weekend takes no break from a tremendous amount of news about and by women in business, politics, digital, technology, media, film, tv, fashion, sports, literature and general pop culture. Have a laugh, somewhere along the way.

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ (It is supposedly trademarked and might be copyrighted--I'm afraid to ask my lawyer again because each time I do, I still don't understand the answer but get a bill for asking) launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in sizes high and low, not much room for medium. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. We would deliver mimosas, too, if the internet could do so. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
