Last fall, Thanksgiving met Hannukah. Today, Superbowl Sunday meets Groundhog Day. We've been researching here at The Sunday Paper, but we haven't yet found any marketing of Superhog Day or Groundbowl Sunday. Will we have to wait another 70,000 years for this to re-occur? Anyone know any Punxatowney Peyton jokes?
In case you have a few moments to not prepare for, or watch, The Big Game (registered trademark), we've brought you some tasty news tidbits. Only you can see if you have what it takes to decide whether today is actually interesting to you, or just so culturally important you feel compelled to participate. If you are really fine about not caring, there are some excellent movies to see, pre-Oscars, and I'm guessing the lines will be pretty short.
This week saw another competitive battle: The industry had to choose between the uber-important Real Screen Conference and the re-invented NATPE. Even before I knew that the best people from broadcast, cable, advertising, and digital would be so strongly in attendance, I took the line on NATPE, as I was invited to give the opening keynote, which took the form of a moderated conversation. And then I gave a speech on a very humbling night, in honor of legendary television programmer Brandon Tartikoff. The evening was made even more intimidating by sharing the stage with James L. Brooks and other industry luminaries. Since your last SP edition we learned who won what Grammys. And Davos got into full swing. No one invited me to sing or give a speech in either of those places, in case you're wondering.
We have many new joiners, as the weeks go by. So in case it's your first edition, here's what's going on: The LZ Sunday Paper exposes and recirculates interesting content that is about, and for, women in business, along with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in sizes high, medium, and low. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh.
Again, thank you for your feedback and in particular, for sending interesting articles and media pieces you've come across. Keep them coming to the LZSundayPaper@gmail.com mailbox. And please remember there is no such thing as over-sharing when it comes to telling your peers and friends about the LZSundayPaper.
Enjoy!
