Greetings,
This week, once again I pay tribute to Bill Cunningham.
On the subway I wondered: do people who dress alike recognize a member of their tribe, gravitate towards each other, and start to hang out, complete with matching handbags?
Back up on the street, I queried myself: do people who are friends already spend so much time together that start to dress alike?
Unrelated to their wardrobe, I hypothesized that these two mid-town officemates were going to get lunch together at a nearby Chop't or Just Salad. That was just a hunch. No evidence to support it.
Being in midtown always makes me think about work. First, my lunch fantasy that I put on these women made me think about how many hundreds of times I ate lunch out of a plastic half-orb filled with greens and other ingredients and dressing that probably had more calories than a cheeseburger.
Then I was still thinking about the twinning thing. I was reminded that I used to come to work and very frequently be dressed nearly identically to one of my employees. We'd both show up at 30 Rock, having decided to do a grey suit, insouciantly hued shirt, with a decent lace up shoe; or another day out of the blue we'd both go black pants and a polo shirt with a tan cotton summer blazer. A tweed look; an obscure color accent choice; you name it, we matched more often than you would think possible!
Okay this pair of photos doesn't 100% totally support my claim. My photos aren't sorted that well so I can't find the perfect sartorial twin-evidence. But trust me, or ask him yourself at @andy!
Regarding actual Matchy-Matchy fashion, let me just proffer my opinion: it works if it's a coincidence, like me and Andy; works for trendy adorable youngster couples; doesn't work for Holiday Cards, no matter what. Even vintage Kardashian/Jenner Christmases!
Here is today's Paper. All the articles are dressed similarly, berobed in interesting things about, but not exclusively for, women in business, digital, tech, media, music, tv, film, fashion, sports, and pop culture. Some of them are funny. That's on purpose.
Last week i noted in my editor's letter that my curation skills might be compromised due to an intense project involving alot of working hours, including long commutes and poor airplane satellite connectivity. Sure enough, there was a bizarre copy editing/typo/non-sequitur right at the top. SORRY!
Tell me how else I've screwed up, or be sure to send any interesting items you see along the way here.
You can peruse the Archive and sign up at LZSundayPaper.com.
Sometimes there's so much interesting stuff out there I can't wait 'til Sunday so I tweet it during the week. Follow me @LZSundayPaper.
Thank you! See you in August!!

The LZ Sunday Paperâ„¢ (soon to be registered trademarked and copyrighted) launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes in size high, medium, and low. Our audience for this content is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
