Readers,
Questions of the day:
1) Will my backhand ever be consistent?
2) Is there such a thing as a strong "brand"? Or did we all ruin the veracity of the thing called "brand" by actually building great businesses but then calling them a "brand" instead of a "business," which made it seem magical and a bit ethereal. And then did we give lessons on how to "build brands" through packaging and design rather than just espousing lessons in how to create the scaffolding for long-term growth combined with year-in, year-out stability? This week, I was thinking about possibly being viewed as a "brand-builder" (which is really nice, don't get me wrong) as opposed to (or in addition to) what I really am which is a "business-builder." My mind was activated when a good friend gave me a great business shout-out. Thank you, Jason! 3) Finally: why isn't *everyone* talking about the sex scene that ended last week's episode of "Sharp Objects"? Plenty of critics are talking about brilliant show, the devastating mother-daughter relationship, and the twists and turns of the actual murder mystery which serves as the plot. Yes, some are mentioning the final scene with lots of adjectives like "hot" or "steamy," but noone is pointing out that Chris Messina is 100% percent full frontal naked. Well, except Chris Messina. No, you can't *see* everything. But I bet every person/woman in America is turning up the brightness on their screen to try. But I'm also just sayin' that it is a very unusual thing to have this 100% naked guy and 100% clothed (for not such healthy reasons, but still) gal in such an intense scene. Hats (and clothes) off to director Jean-Marc Vallée for giving us such equal opportunity body drama, as he did in "Big Little Lies" with Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard. All I can say is turn that brightness up and get ready for Episode 6 tonight.
