Greetings, Readers,
Week one of Operation Top 10 was a big success. Many of you wrote to say it worked well for you, too. Though some of you did say that the-more-the-merrier number of clips also works for you, but that you were happy if I was happy. I was happy. Thank you.
Though known for being on the leading edge of lots of shape-shifting cultural events, I am way late to the party on the topic of…yoga. It was only about a year ago that I followed my kids' multi-year lead on exercise crazes such as yoga, pilates, barre, core, and spinning. I tried them all. The yoga stuck. The per-class fee transitioned to the 10-pack. The 10-pack went to the "monthly unlimited." I recently did the math to see if I should up-convert to the Annual Pass.
Over the course of my lifetime I discovered that in many ways I'm kind of "like a guy." I didn't quite realize early enough that perhaps being like a guy -- aggressive, competitive, a person who lives to work, a person who sometimes 'splains things to people -- was actually a negative when, over the years, folks at in certain situations wanted me to be more…not so much like that. But I digress. For the purposes of this story, another way I am like a guy is that I have (or as you'll find out, 'had') the flexibility of an oak tree trunk.
Cut to: today, about a year later, I put my hands--my palms--on the floor. Yes I did! I can do a bunch of other things, too, that are absurd poses and other contortions but really it's this one simple thing that, honestly, makes me feel the best.
Everybody asks me about the mental aspects of yoga and whether I am deriving the benefit of that, too. I am not sure. What I will say is that when I'm there, I'm there. I am focused. Focused because I am desperately trying to concentrate on the slim possibility that I can achieve anything close to whatever the next sequence is without falling over or fainting.
Just fyi I'm sending this missive from Northern Kentucky, having driven here yesterday, in the middle of a combo drive/fly extravaganza. See you next week from points South, after having been West for the work week.
Here is your week 2 Top 10 edition. It will keep you up to date, stimulated, smart-feeling, and even amused-- but not overwhelmed-- by the week's most interesting and important news about and by women in business, politics, and culture.
You can always use the tip-line here, for anything you'd like to send me.
Follow me on Twitter to get a daily fix. I'll be tweeting three hours earlier since I'll be on the West Coast most of the week!

The LZ Sunday Paper™ launched at the dawn of 2014. We expose and recirculate interesting content that is about, and frequently by, women in business, with a dose of ultra-relevant culture. We think that culture comes high and low, not much in between. Our audience is vast and not gender-driven. Every week we expect to deliver at least one good laugh. Send suggestions, clips, or names of people you think might enjoy this to LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
