The "Hur(t)(l)ing" Edition
Dear Subscribers,
Today, I am going to finalize plans for our holiday season get-away. Recently, I complained about a negative tech ‘innovation:’ 2-factor authentication. I got a ton of positive feedback on that. One reader did scold me for this somehow making me an advocate for identity theft. I apologize— I do not like identity theft at all. Especially after I lost my wallet on Halloween and I am quite sure there are still many Lauren Zalaznicks traipsing around buying things at many gas stations, drug stores, and Best Buys.
But I digress. Back to travel planning. A positive tech-ish innovation: the “rather than wait on the phone, would you like a call back? You won’t lose your place in line!” function on American Airlines and lots of other places I need to call with insanely long hold times.
No, we are not traveling to Japan (longstanding plan for 2020 ski vacation). Nor are we going toThailand (momentary, but serious consideration to visit niece for 2021 vacation). Sorry, Mexico (fairly serious consideration for 2021 vacation until late-breaking Omicron jitters took care of that). We are actually excited for a whole lot of LA with a whole lot of friends and family to see…and then a little West Coast skiing.
Happy last day Hanukkah! Speaking of which, you should celebrate with this excellent, amusing documentary about…yes…Kenny G. I’m not kidding.
One of the first things I ever learned in my first job at VH-1 in 1994 was that we were going to revamp the music video playlist. Radically. And right away. “Video Hits 1” enemies number one and two were Kenny G. and Michael Bolton. Off they came. Enemy number three was Gallagher, smashing watermelons in front of a brick wall for six hours a day of our programming. And enemy number 4 was the dash itself in VH-1. We excised all of the above within a few months of arrival in 1994. A job well done. Honestly, I hope they are making a film about Michael Bolton, Gallagher, and the dash itself.
Hope you are in an Executive Platinum state of mind so that while you are on hold you can read everything there is to know about Politics, Pop Culture and everything in between— the essential list of the most important content about women, just for you.
