The "Open Era" Edition
Hello, Friends—
Should this be a Summer Send-Off Edition? Can anyone believe it is the last weekend before Labor Day?
Should this be a Random Gripes Edition? Here’s one: If you buy stamps from the U.S. Postal Service postage stamps from USPS.com, why do they charge a delivery fee? They come to your house…every day? Like we don’t pay (yet) to get our mail delivered, right? How does one get appointed Postmistress General? If it’s a good enough job for Ben Franklin, it’s good enough for me.
Should this be a “What The Hell Is On TV?” Edition? I really cannot a) keep all the recommendations in a list I can ever find and/or b) get through more than two episodes of anything I manage to remember to start. On to my annual 3-week subscription/cancellation of The Tennis Channel to watch U.S. Open Tennis, starting tomorrow (note: Tennis-Heavy LZSP edition — apologies to non-tennis fans but still the articles are really interesting).
The “Things I Don’t Care About” Edition: Here is an abbreviated list of things I don’t care about: Sheryl Sandberg’s wedding; Kim Kardashian’s break-up or pretty much any Kardashian news; what anyone wears to any event; shapewear. Q: Is there any new news about Shia LaBeouf that I can not care about? I’m not up to speed on that.
Back to Random Gripes: Why can’t Apple figure out an iPhone screen setting called “Beach” that converts from LCD/LED to “iInk” or some clever name for a power-saving screen that is also readable in bright sunlight?
My most gripe-y gripe? Please don’t email me and ask if you can Pick. My. Brain. Just say “I want to talk to you about my career.” “…about getting my kid into college.” “…about how to get stamps delivered for free because you are now Postmaster General” —haha just kidding.
Okay how about if this is actually the “Thank You Again” Edition: to my incredible contributors Lily, Nancy, Julie, David, Karen, Kathryn, Julia, Adam, Robert, Phelim, Lucy, Barbara, and lots of others. So…THANK YOU! And everyone else, try sending me something you think is interesting. It’s fun!
You would be doing me a favor by helping to continue to make this newsletter chock full of important news by, for, and about women, about Politics, Pop Culture and everything in between.
