The "Template" Edition
Dear Readers,
As a follow up to last week’s FaceTiming and inflation rant/questioning I got the following answers from many of my faithful communicators:
#unlimiteddata, dumb-ass. Apparently we are among the last customers on earth to actually believe that having a limited data plan actually limits the amount of off-network streaming. The plethora of “you have reached 95% of your monthly data limit and will be charged $15.00” texts didn’t convince us. #Messagereceived.
Good news for our still-on-the-family-plan-kids. Is it a thing where now you have to put in your will what happens to all the family plans upon your demise?
Inflation. My smart economist friend did indeed respond/take the bait. Her response:
On the topic of inflation - if you are buying a used car, lumber, copper, gas or food not to mention renting an apartment, yes there is inflation. The price of basket of things Americans buy has grown faster in 2021 than ever before. Some of this is base effects (I.e, hotel rooms and airlines that were unusually low due to pandemic finally being restored). But after two decades where price growth was wildly low (below 2 percent), it’s more like 4 percent now…
…to your question on clothing - most attribute this to shipping costs and other supply chain factors (the elusive transitory factors that are yet persistent). You probably don’t buy the apparel portfolio of the urban consumer but you can see it here:

I clicked on the chart which is very interesting and also I really liked that the site is named “FRED.”
My economist friend also nicely reminds me that I don’t know anything by concluding with “That is just the easy answer. It is more complicated.”
But all that is last week’s news. Moving on to this week, another fam member down with Omicron. We are 4-for-5. #5 is in lockdown pending a necessary negative test for non-US plane travel.
I’m not reporting on the (non-) snow event here in NYC. Good luck to those in actual blizzard conditions.
Wherever and whatever your weather, here is a veritable storm of information about Politics, Pop Culture and everything in between— the essential list of the the week’s most important content about women.
If you subscribe, every Sunday morning The LZ Sunday Paper will show up in your inbox.
If you don’t, you can follow me for some fun and / or important things in between Sundays, mostly on (click here:) Instagram. As I previously shared, I rarely post on Facebook any more because I can barely find anything in the right place. I apologize to the many, many who I am sure wished me a Happy Birthday last week (thank you!!). And I did take a quick glance the day after. Am I correct that there seems to be a separate “Birthday Feed?” That might be a good idea because one specific place to celebrate everyone’s birthday seems like a better idea than one gigantic place to both celebrate someone’s birthday and crap all over them for a banal, petty, uninteresting opinion they shared or have that minor hoo-hah be served to you alongside an actually racist rant. Okay, now you see why I generally stay off social media.
If you have a story you think I may have missed, email me at (click here:) LZSundayPaper@gmail.com.
And if you’d like to tell a friend about the Paper, please do:
Coming soon: Happy February! See you next week.
